Rafe Kovich is the cousin of Lucy Coe from Transylvania. Formerly a vampire slayer, Rafe was killed in the early 1990s during a confrontation with vampire Caleb Morley. Rafe resurfaced on Earth in late 2001 to help cousin Lucy and the Port Charles residents to defeat Caleb. Afterwards, Rafe (revealed to be a guardian angel) was given a mission by his father Head Angel Ed Grant to make "Miracles Happen" and to reunite the couples of Port Charles who had been manipulated by Caleb. With the exception of Alison and Jamal, Rafe succeeded in his mission, even managing to help cousin Lucy to finally marry her "Doc" Kevin Collins on Christmas and reuniting Lucy with adopted daughter Christina Baldwin, who had been kidnapped by her birth mother Julie. However, during his time on Earth, Rafe began to have feelings for Alison Barrington, and struck a deal with Ed to return to Earth. While his reasoning to Ed was to fix Jamal and Alison's relationship, he also wanted more time with Alison and to experience life. The cost: to give up his powers and his job as guardian angel. Rafe returned to Earth on New Year's Eve as an "almost" human boy, spending the New Year's with Alison while Jamal was in Chicago. Alison and Rafe went on to fall in love and make it to the altar, surviving former flames, amnesia, "Angel" duties, a pact with the Devil, Caleb and Livvie's machinations and even death. In the final episode of Port Charles, the couple wed in an intimate ceremony surrounded by family and friends.
